Dear all,         Following the Government’s latest advice around social distancing, it is with sadness and reluctance that we recommend that all forms of recreational cricket are for now suspended. This extends to training, pre-season friendlies and any associated cricket activity. Sport plays an absolutely vital role in the nation’s mental and physical wellbeing, and it helps people find meaning where there is fear and uncertainty, so one of our goals in the coming weeks will be to explore ways that we can support some levels of physical activity in communities - particularly at junior levels. Using our cricket community to support others could be one of the most important services we can offer during the difficult next few months. It will be critical that any decisions we do make are medically-led. And we will continue to work with Government and their advisors to ensure we are informed by science in our decision making. Over the coming weeks we will work with the game to understand what support is required across the cricket community, particularly local clubs and leagues. We understand that countless hours of work from thousands of volunteers have already gone into getting ready for the 2020 season and we know how disappointing this will be. We are thankful for the huge role that volunteers play in local cricket, to ensure the game remains at the heart of communities. We know that you and your clubs can play an important role in bringing your community together once we get past this period of time.

With the new 2020 cricket season fast approaching the club has started indoor nets at Pontardawe Leisure Centre. They take place each Sunday at 9.45am and our first two sessions have been well attended with everyone looking forward to the start of the season.

It is good to see some new faces and we always welcome newcomers to the club. So if anybody out there is interested in taking part please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the committee. Alternatively just turn up at nets on a Sunday morning and you will receive a warm welcome.

From the chairman

The new season will soon be upon us and it will be another important one in the history of Pontardawe Cricket Club. With the club beginning to stabilise and narrowly missing out on promotion last season we plan to go one step further this season.

We continue to run senior sides in the South Wales Cricket Association and this year we are taking part in All Stars cricket, which introduces boys and girls aged 5 to 8 into the game.

To maintain this level of cricket we are holding a golf day at Pontardawe Golf Club on Friday 22^nd June 2018.

Tee off times will be between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. with prize giving taking place at approximately 8.15 p.m.

Very sadly we have to pass on the news that Vaughan Edwards, an ex Ponty cricketer and known to many, has passed away.

Presentation Evening

Pontardawe Cricket Club's 2017 Presentation Evening will be held in the Pontardawe Golf Club at 7pm this Saturday. A buffet will be provided.

AGM 2017

The AGM will be held at the Ivy Bush on Monday June 26 at 7.00 pm

Please note that for any alterations or additions to the rules, a notice of motion must be given to the Secretary in writing not less than 14 days before the AGM.  Any such notice shall be signed by 2 members eligible to vote at the AGM.
