COVID-19 Update Click to view in browser

Dear all, Following the safeguarding update earlier this week which can be found here, please find below the latest COVID-19 Bulletin. Thanks to all that completed the recent ECB survey. The answers have provided valuable insights into what ECB should be doing to support Counties, Clubs and Leagues.     Across the survey, containing responses from over 1000 clubs, we are clear that Finance and Players are the biggest concerns with Grounds and Pitches not far behind. With the Finance Support package in place we are turning our attention to Players and Grounds over the next few weeks and we will share more details in the coming weeks.   The Hundred Update The England and Wales Cricket Board yesterday confirmed that the launch of The Hundred will now take place in summer 2021. The news follows a meeting dedicated to the subject, where the Board concluded it was not possible for the competition to be staged this year. Read more here. National Progammes Update  The safety and wellbeing of all people involved in cricket is our absolute priority and so whilst we continue to work through solutions, All Stars and Dynamos Cricket remain suspended for the time being in line with government guidance.  We will do everything we can to run programmes later in the year should the government guidance allow us to do so and we will remain in touch with any updates as and when they are available. If the situation means we are unable to reschedule programmes for a later date, we will ensure that refunds or credits are available for participants. We know that cricket can play a huge part in supporting physical and mental wellbeing of children around the country and we are continuing to explore ways that we can bring cricket to homes through indoor games, challenges, and digital content.  Some of this you may have already seen via our All Stars Cricket activity booklet, our All Stars garden games, and keep an eye out for the Dynamos Cricket app, and educational content coming your way shortly.  Our aim is to do what’s best for our community throughout this unusual period and appreciate your support to do the same. This is new territory for all of us, and we appreciate your patience during this time. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact our help desk. Update for Clubs and Leagues: COVID-19 Click to view in browser Dear all,     We hope that you, your family and friends are keeping well during this uncertain time. The response from the cricket community has been overwhelming as people are thinking of new ideas to stay active and keep cricket in their lives.   With the changing situation surrounding Covid-19, we are continuing to work with the Government and Sport England to provide the answers that we know you are looking for during this uncertain time. It remains critical that our decision making is medically led and informed by science and as a result, we are not able to provide all the answers at the minute. Please be assured that we are continuing to work through the questions we receive and will update you as frequently as possible. National Programmes: The safety and wellbeing of all people involved in cricket is our absolute priority and so whilst we continue to work through solutions, All Stars and Dynamos Cricket remain suspended. We are currently working through what this means for those who have registered for both national participation programmes and will be in touch within three weeks to update you. We know that cricket can have a huge part to play in supporting physical and mental wellbeing of children around the country and we are working hard to find a solution which involves running courses later in the summer. We are fully committed to doing the best for cricket and its communities throughout this unusual period. In the meantime, we are also exploring ways that we can bring cricket to homes across the country through indoor games, challenges and digital content and we look forward to sharing details with you soon. We will be communicating a similar update with parents of participants in the next 48 hours. EWCT Interest Free Loan Scheme: The Trustees of the England and Wales Cricket Trust (ECB’s subsidiary charity) have agreed that loan repayments will be suspended until May 2021. All other terms and conditions remain in place. If you have any questions, please contact loans@ecb.co.uk. Safeguarding: The safety of our clubs and centres remains a priority. Whilst we have suspended all Safe Hands courses, we will be introducing an interim training package to everyone that needs it. Full details will be shared through County Welfare Officers. We have had to make changes to the standard practice of Disclosure and Barring Service Checks but will be following the Government guidance on temporary changes which include: DBS Certificates will now be able to be emailed to safe.guarding@ecb.co.uk instead of posting. Overseas Certificate of Good Conduct will now be able to be emailed to dbs@ecb.co.uk instead of posting. Access has been temporarily changed for ID verification to the top levels of access: ECB Staff / Regional Users / Primary County-Wide Users / Secondary County-Wide Users (which would include all County Welfare Officers & their deputies / Regional Programme Execs / City Programme Execs ID Verifications will now be supported via video conferencing instead of Face to Face meetings Competitions: Following the announcement last week relating to the suspension of recreational cricket, cricket competitions will be suspended until further notice. Please be assured that we are continuing to work through the questions and what options there will be for running competitions at a later date. We will update you as frequently as possible. Staying connected: It is important to keep in touch and look after your cricket community, be they players, volunteers, parents, or members so that they are with you for many years to come. You will still have important decisions to make, and we face an extended period where there is extremely limited or no face to face contact with others. In the short term, please check-in and look after your community (especially the vulnerable) using phone, WhatsApp, Facebook or other tools and try out a conference call facility for formal meetings - Best Conferencing Apps. As we move through this period, look at setting up virtual social sessions, such as quizzes or dinner parties, via conference call facilities. Whilst adhering to Government guidance please stay physically and mentally fit – there are lots of great online resources to help you. Please look after your cricket community. This is new territory for all of us, and we’d like to thank you personally for your support and patience as we work through solutions. We will be in touch soon with answers to as many questions as possible. England & Wales Cricket Board, Lord's Cricket Ground, London, NW8 8QZ Unsubscribe    |    Forward this email

ECB Coronavirus advice , March 18

Update for Clubs and Leagues: COVID-19 Click to view in browser

Dear all,         Following the Government’s latest advice around social distancing, it is with sadness and reluctance that we recommend that all forms of recreational cricket are for now suspended. This extends to training, pre-season friendlies and any associated cricket activity. Sport plays an absolutely vital role in the nation’s mental and physical wellbeing, and it helps people find meaning where there is fear and uncertainty, so one of our goals in the coming weeks will be to explore ways that we can support some levels of physical activity in communities - particularly at junior levels. Using our cricket community to support others could be one of the most important services we can offer during the difficult next few months. It will be critical that any decisions we do make are medically-led. And we will continue to work with Government and their advisors to ensure we are informed by science in our decision making. Over the coming weeks we will work with the game to understand what support is required across the cricket community, particularly local clubs and leagues. We understand that countless hours of work from thousands of volunteers have already gone into getting ready for the 2020 season and we know how disappointing this will be. We are thankful for the huge role that volunteers play in local cricket, to ensure the game remains at the heart of communities. We know that you and your clubs can play an important role in bringing your community together once we get past this period of time.

With the new 2020 cricket season fast approaching the club has started indoor nets at Pontardawe Leisure Centre. They take place each Sunday at 9.45am and our first two sessions have been well attended with everyone looking forward to the start of the season.

It is good to see some new faces and we always welcome newcomers to the club. So if anybody out there is interested in taking part please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the committee. Alternatively just turn up at nets on a Sunday morning and you will receive a warm welcome.

Season starts on Saturday 2nd May. See fixture list for more details.

From the chairman

The new season will soon be upon us and it will be another important one in the history of Pontardawe Cricket Club. With the club beginning to stabilise and narrowly missing out on promotion last season we plan to go one step further this season.

We continue to run senior sides in the South Wales Cricket Association and this year we are taking part in All Stars cricket, which introduces boys and girls aged 5 to 8 into the game.

To maintain this level of cricket we are holding a golf day at Pontardawe Golf Club on Friday 22^nd June 2018.

Tee off times will be between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. with prize giving taking place at approximately 8.15 p.m.
