SWCA Div. 1 2nd XI ChampionshipPontardawe v Swansea Sat. Aug. 11thStand-in captain Jonathan Howells called correctly and decided that Pontardawe would have a bat. Ponty were fielding a largely inexperienced team ,half of which were under 18.Swansea, on the other hand, put out a side with some proven individuals in its midst and Ponty had no answer as Rhys Batcup bagged 5 wickets for 4 runs off 8 overs. He was ably supported by Suki Singh (2 for 8 off 8) and Sanhad Sawlani (2 for 10 off 5.5 overs).Ponty succumbed at 44 all out. Swansea knocked off the runs without loss. Bevan Daniels 28 n.o.and Dominic Evans 18 n.o. This is a steep learning curve for the young Pontardawe players but they must not be discouraged- they are being asked to "punch above thir weight" at the moment and should find life in Division 2 next season a little easier. Take heart! |
